July YACHT Club

The focus of the discussion was Divine Command Theory and the starting point for this discussion is here. The horns of the dilemma are: does God give us commands because they are right, or are the commands right because they are from God?

After an in depth discussion about the Euthyphro Dilemma, the group had two question for further thought:

  1. What can we learn from atheists about God and morality?
  2. As Christians, what obligations do we have to human laws?

May YACHT Club

The May YACHT Club had a look at one of the I Am statements of Jesus through the YouTube video What did Jesus mean when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)? (from Got Questions Ministeries)

I really like how the video explained the context behind the words”I Am”, and that it explained the whole statement

I like how its saying that Jesus is the only way, not following the rules, not doing good things, not being a “good” christian, but Just Jesus

I like the reference to Jesus being God the Creator, using those same exclusive first person pronouns, which links back to the idea of the Trinity (that Jesus and God the Creator are exactly the same person).
